When you first walk in, The Attic kind of just looks like someone else's apartment (but with a fully-stocked bar). But herein lies its appeal - this is a great place for a pre-club or post-work tipple. Drinks are on the cheap side, and most come here for its balcony that overlooks busy North Tryon St in the Fourth Ward neighborhood. This outdoor area is seated, but a little tiny,

so get here early if you want a good people-watching spot, as the whole bar fills up really fast. It's connected to its sister bar Madison's, which is a little larger and starts from the back of The Attic.

Music can be a mixed bag here, as The Attic's diverse crowd is catered to by anything from a Top 40 DJ to a live rock band. Service can be a bit slow here due to this place's popularity and chronically under-staffed bar, but servers and patrons alike are pretty friendly, so it's more about enjoying the atmosphere than just getting trashed. There's no dress code, so whatever's hanging up in your apartment closet is okay by The Attic, and the only time they ever really need to use their bouncers is to get people to pour their drinks into plastic cups when venturing out onto the balcony patio.

If you're not too big on the crowds, it's best to come here weeknights or Sunday afternoons. Otherwise, this locale boasts a modest but busy dance floor where you can strut your tipsy stuff.
